Party of Two Flavors [05/06/2003]
Well, had a dream early this morning about a party of sorts. It started
off with my father giving me some orders about preparing the party. For
some reason he insisted on calling me Marty. Then my two brothers, who
really weren't my real brothers (one was black and one was white), took
off somewhere and I told them to be back promptly at 5pm for the party,
but the party actually started at 6pm. The the time sorta elapsed with
random preparation stuff, and 6pm rolled around. The party started off as
a bunch of the younger crowd all excited about whatever it was we were
celebrating. At this point everyone was calling me my real name, Steve.
Seemed the party was gravitating around me.
Well, the first party scene was in what looked like a furnished version of
our garage, and we had a white cake with some green coloring swirled in.
One kid seemed to argue that he wanted the other cake, and I somehow knew
what other cake he wanted. I hung around with the large group of people
as they had fun, then I decided to see the other group who were also
celebrating.
I went up to the house and they were making this weird classy pie with
fruit and something that resembled salsa on it. They has some blues
artist singing and the whole scene was a bit classy. My parents and some
of the older crowd were there. The pie finished and we went to cut it. I
went to the hutch draw and looked for a pie blade. I found two. One was
thick and sharp, but the other was thin and dull. I decided to use the
thick one and bring the thin one down to the other party for them to cut
there cake. So we cut some cake and went outside on the deck.
While we were out on the deck, that little kid came along carrying a
couple pieces of cake from the other party. He still wanted some of the
cake we had, but when he looked at it, he decided against it, and insisted
that he wanted another kind of cake, but I told him we didn't have any
other cake and I also told him that we were having pie, not cake. He then
said we could get some in the master bedroom. I had no idea what he was
talking about and he kept saying stuff about the master bedroom. I told
him that we don't have room service or take out, so we're stuck with the
two cakes we have now. I shortly woke up after that.
One thing that I saw incredibly interesting about this dream is the
amount of pairings. Two parties, two party styles, two kinds of cake
(pie), two color brothers, two start times, two pie blades, two ordering
services, two names. Very vexing.
