The Phantom and the Dog [12/27/2007]

Initially, I recall trying to get to some place and was separated by a street notorious for criminal activities. There was a garage of sorts in particular where the worst of them hung out. I was told to take a dog with me to lower the risk on my life.

I take up the rein on a dog, which I notice to have only a chain of about 3 links, so I was nearly holding it by the collar. It's somewhat dark out, and I round the corner through a gate in a stone wall barrier of sorts. I turn right and down the street, and to the left side is the garage. I can see and hear the guys in the garage debating over whether to leave me be or to do otherwise.

I walk down the street and take a corridor to the left, past the garage. I can still hear them talking, but the seem to be leaving me alone with my dog. I reach an old run-down doorway with a lever-action hinge. I lift the hinge and pull the door open. After I step through with the dog, I close the door loudly and lower the hinge. At this point I fear that the men are planning to come after me because they've become restless.

The room I in is dark with dust and moldy walls. A dismal blue-green light shines in through a window on the left, and there is virtually nothing in the room. The room is very long and bends a little to the right on the far end. There is a small nook in the far left side and there seems to be no exits, but I know there's a crawl space in the nook in the corner. I go over there and knock away a small makeshift door, and a similar light can be seen shining in from this crawl space.

First I crouch near the space in silence listening for any trouble, then I make my way through the nook, up and around and into another room which was Japanese in style. I recall telling the dog with me that we're no longer in the same realm as they are, so we're safe.

For some reason I find myself trying to separate some kind of streamers from each other, and the dog then becomes distressed about something outside a large entryway made mostly of wood with rice paper windows. The entryway was slid open when we first arrived and revealed an outdoor scene that wasn't very spectacular.

The dog barks about something outside and we both go out to investigate. At this point I can't follow what happens. I only know that the dream soon changed into something far more bizarre.

Now I am with a non-descript girl and we stand on a platform encircling some kind of basin. Things seemed very industrial and were colored in iron orange. It was dark, and a fiery light shine in from a few entrances one of which was down inside this large basin.

A phantom of sorts stood in the basin with a large kitchen knife. It was cloaked black with a white smiling mask. It seemed to have killed some people, and me and my friend went down to confront it. We told it that it did not have to be like this, that it could change from its murderous ways and stop this nonsense. I got close enough and was able to knock the knife away. It came at me, but before anything happened, it disappeared. The knife lay on the ground, and I picked it up. I was now in my bedroom in my parents home. The east window was open and I took the knife and squeezed it through a gap below the screen of the window.

Now the knife was outside and out of the equation. My phone rings, which I believe was one of those Razor phones, and a voice comes over taunting me asking things like, "remember me," and saying all sorts of creepy things.

Then it hung up and reappeared in the room. We scuffled again, and it soon vanished. This repeated many times where it would call or reappear somewhere in the room only to vanish again. I got a bit tense and wanted this to stop. I started asking what it was and why it was taunting me.

My brother was now with me and he said that it was in here, pointing to an open suitcase. He then said it was dad, who we thought of as being long dead at this time. I placed a marbled blue, green, black and white object into the suitcase which contained some black cloth. And after that, the phone rang again.

Now it was taunting me and I told it that it was dead and I will not be seeing it again. Now it appeared outside the window and in the driveway east of our house. Its cloaks were now also marbled with the color of the item in the suitcase. It stood there with its arms down and continued to taunt me saying the same things over and over. It vanished and reappeared in another spot on the driveway. My brother continued to explain that it was in the suitcase. I then closed up the suitcase with its contents inside and the phantom vanished again, this time longer, but soon reappeared in the house.

This continued a little longer, and it wasn't until I woke up that I realized full well that the phantom's presence was governed by the contents of the suitcase. By removing everything from the suitcase, It would have no presence. Its likely that even its white smiling mask was in the suitcase beneath the black cloak that lay inside.
