Naruto-style Cat Fiasco [9/6/2005]

I had a really strange dream this morning. I can't really recall how it started out. It seemed to come from two different directions as though I was in two places at once watching two things unfold and eventually coming together as one thing.

First of all, I was at work, and we had just moved into a new office space. However this wasn't like it was in real life. Instead of being in the building we are now, we were working in my high school building. Instead of taking on a vacant office space, we had taken on a nook of the childrens library, which didn't exist all together.

At the same time this was going on, there was a scene of a popular anime series, Naruto, which I happen to love. I watched as Naruto, the main character in the series, was looking for a cat. Instead of finding the one he was looking for, he discovered a white cat. For whatever reason, he seemed to not like the cat at all, so he killed it by cutting it down the middle from head to tail.

Now I found myself driving to work following close behind my boss, Scott. His car was green instead of red. We both seemed to be rushing to work because we needed to get there on time for a meeting. We both pulled into the parking lot at my high school just in time to meet our colleagues in the parking lot. We headed up to the office at this point.

After climbing the stairs, I found myself on the top floor of the building, walking across the hallway to the other side. I walked down a short, alternate set of stairs that led to the library entrance. I walked in and found walls and walls of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that could make a claustrophobic person scream. After walkng around a few shelves, I found myself in a small room with books on a few sides, however the room looked a lot like my bedroom.

There was an old lady sitting in a chair next to my dresser. Apparently, I had a white cat which ran by, so I grabbed him up into my arms. The lady was very concerned that she didn't know where her white cat was. She really looked very distrait over it. A girl came in who looked a lot like Sakura from the Naruto series.

I looked around and found sitting on the dresser, a cat just sitting in a frozen pose with a slice down the middle and no blood. I told the old lady and she looked over in shock. Then she cast some kind of spell to revive the cat. The next thing I knew, the old lady's body was gone leaving just her head, and the cat was now alive and moving. While this happened, I could see that the old lady was gathering information somehow about what happened to her cat.

She was very upset now because she knew she was stuck like this (bodiless), and some sort of other spell needed to be cast in order to restore herself and the cat together. She then started arguing about how that "punk kid" was the one who did this to her cat.

At this point, both me and Sakura knew that she was probably talking about Naruto. So we both asked, "You mean Naruto?"

Right then, Naruto strolled in through a side door, and I knew that Naruto would go after the cat, so I jumped in and took an attack stance. Naruto didn't know what was going on, and I did some move that caused him to fly backwards onto this strange wall of square glyphs. It seemed very distant because when Naruto hit the wall, he was smaller than even just one of the squares.

Then all this orange/red spaghetti string flew out around him, grabbed him, and pulled him into a glyph where he was bound. Sakura was astonished, but I told her that it had to be done, and that we could get him out of that easily. Right then, we turned around and saw an ancient mask come off the wall and float towards us.

The mask seemed to be looking for prey, and Sakura seemed to think it was going towards me, so she jumped in front of me to protect me as the mask came at us. I then woke up after she laid on top of me with her back towards me. The strange thing was that all of this from when I saw the cat on the dresser until the end of the dream all seemed to be in the style of Anime, yet it still seemed very real.

Clearly the references to Naruto have something to do with this, and so do the white cats and the lack of blood in all cases. Usually the white with no blood means something good regarding purity, but this mask and the lady's head and the library are a little strange to me. Also, Sakura jumping in to protect me from the mask was a bit unusual.
