Ghost Caves [4/18/2008]

First it was night and my younger brother and I were apparently at a farmers market outside with picnic tables set up throughout this place. We were shopping around for apples, and at first we went into a large building behind the market. It appeared to be near closing time and people were busy organizing things. Some men in the building seemed to be doing construction on the building. We walked through some rooms until we came out in another place at the far end of the market area. We found a table selling apples and got some ourselves. I believe the lady selling them may have been from our church.

We left there and somehow the scene changed or the dream changed. I recall going down into an old tower ruin of sorts. There was some kind of smooth-stone cavern under this tower.

The tower was set on a sandy place with a steep hill to the east followed by woods further east, some large oak-type trees to the south, a path on the west side leading north to south, fields beyond the path and forest even further out.

I was still with my younger brother and we went down some stairs that circled around the inside edge of this tower to the south and east sides. The walls were gray and although it seemed man-made, there was little sign the stone being carved. We reached a platform with a stone wall holding back people from falling into a dark cave. Large cut out window spaces shone light into the room where we stood and going up the stairs. The hole to the cavern underneath was about half the size of the room as if half was stone and half was cut out.

A cyan blue candle and brass candle holder sat on the ledge overlooking the hole. I picked it up and lit it. We looked over the edge and tipped the candle to shine light into the cave underneath. The cave was quite large and was carved out even under the platform where we stood. Looking down there was a stone that stuck up from the ground as a way of getting in and out, but it was rather far down. Blue candle wax could be seen in two puddles on top of the stone. I commented that some people had been here before. I'm unsure if anyone else had actually ventured down into the cave.

I climbed down followed by my brother. The cave was dimly lit by the candle and ambient light shining down from the windows far above. I only remember some small shelf or recess in the wall. The rest of the cave was some color of orange or black from the light of the candle. Few actual details come to mind because something happened and unseen spirits came out. I recall something about a conversation between my brother and I about something living down here, perhaps some long dead spirits.

My memory of it may have been obscured by the panic that ensued as these spirits, possibly native, came out of the walls and toward us. We scrambled up the stone and I could feel them grabbing at my ankles. We climbed up the ledge to the platform above and quickly ran up the stairs and out of this ruin. We jumped on a single bicycle. I somehow sat behind as we rode off southward on the dirt road.

As we were riding along, the path became more narrow like a footpath. Vegetation got more dense and we neared the end of the field as we came up on some fencing to the west side. The trees were quite thick now on the east side. We stopped for a moment as the road took a sharp turn to the east. A poorly kept path went on south into some grass and trees. My knowledge was such that I knew that another one of these caves existed down that path, and a third down the main path.

We discussed whether to go down the path and decided against it. Our reasoning was that this cavern was the worst of the three. So we turned left to the east and went down a gradual incline and into a red-stone valley. We turned once again to the south and were met by a large flat plane with no vegetation and red sand stone all around in a giant circle. As we entered, to the south and west sides some humanoid alien creatures seemed to form from the stone surrounding a couple caves. Things seemed a little odd as we started to behave as though this was our home and we lounged around the place as though it was our home. Moments later the place appeared to have seats and a big television, but things still had that same red-orange sand color.
