Mountain Ranger [6/29/2003]
I went back to sleep after rehearsing "Show Tickets" and at some point
started dreaming again. This time I dreamed I was at some sort of
isolated resort lodge with a group of guys who were all camping out there.
We were all seated for a meeting outside and someone was up front talking.
Then this mountain ranger came down from the hill behind the speaker.
The speaker turned around and everyone who was talking completely stopped
making a sound. We all sat there looking at the ranger and he at us for
like 5 minutes. Very awkward moment. Then the speaker started acting
weird and was sniffing at the ranger as if searching his shirt for
something. Then he pulled out some grapes from his left pocket and they
started laughing as the speaker started eating the grapes. Then the
ranger went up to a pavilion and pulled down some curtains from under the
edge of the roof. Seemed he was making a stage. We all followed him up
to this stage and he started putting on some act. At this point, I knew
that our group was a bunch of christian guys having fun together, and this
ranger seemed to think we weren't and was putting on this act to present
his Christian beliefs to us in this subtle manor.
Part of the act was that he nailed like a tablet to a tree and then I
walked up in front of everyone and behind the ranger to read what was on
this tablet. I then figured it was like the ten commandments or
something, and walked back to my seat after looking at it up closer. Then
the ranger had us follow him up this hill to another part of this resort
place. I saw that the tablets had changed from this more fine print to a
large print and had a short grocery list on it this time.
We walked up to some small trees at the top of this hill and turned around
to our right and looked down the hill toward the buildings we were at.
This goat was standing down there and the ranger seemed to own it. I
don't recall exactly now, but he rolled something between its legs and the
goat walked sideways over this thing he rolled under it. We were somehow
impressed. I then woke up from the dream shortly after we watched this
thing happen.
