Shortcomings [8/4/2003]
I had a couple dreams this morning. In the first dream, I was discussing
with someone, I think it was a high school teacher of mine, about where he
lived over in the Idaho/Utah area. I had this little digital map that
I'd move my mouse over spots and city names would pop up.
I asked him if he lived near a town called Westochioster? I looked like
Rochester, but had a few move vowels and started with 'w' rather than 'r'.
So he asked where it was, and I told him it was north of some other town.
And he wasn't sure, but knew where this other town I mentioned was. So I
then played around with rotating the map because I wasn't totally sure
exactly where. Then contours and things started to show up rather than
being mostly flat, and then the map seemed as though it was life-sized. I
found that this Westwhatever town was on the side of a mountain.
I was suddenly in the map, as was this teacher. I looked around to see
sharp-rocked mountains and bright green brush and grass and a few lakes in
the distance. I walked down the mountain that we were on a little ways
and found this sign for a school. It read "Central B of 'B' School". I
asked him if he lived near this school, and he came down and looked
himself. I then looked further down the mountain and found people were
moving around down there. So I took a short trip down this mountain onto
a grassy plain where these people were moving around and found I knew most
of them from high school. I walked toward some houses and found some
friends taking peoples garbage out and everyone seemed to live in these
tiny shanties.
Most people had their garbage outside although sometimes the cans had
these big slices all the way down the side, so the garbage (usually
packaging kernels) was falling out. So we went around and collected the
garbage in a really big can. This one girl didn't put her garbage out and
so we opened her door and found the can inside, and everything was covered
in things like eggs and ketchup and stuff so we didn't want to touch it.
The girl then came by and realized that we didn't take her garbage and was
like, "What? You don't think I can clean my house?" And we just basically
agreed with her and went on around into this area that seemed like we were
suddenly indoors and getting the garbage out of this meeting place which
also had a sliced can. I then woke up and fell asleep again.
This time I dreamt I was lying on a bed with this girl and this other guy
and they were discussing their divorce and then decided to go to sleep.
It sounded as if their divorce was tomorrow and that their issue wasn't
really big and could have been solved quite easily. So they lay down and
I for some reason was laying down there to next to her. So they were both
looking up at the ceiling and he seemed to want to sleep. She was still
thinking about the divorce and I was looking over at the both of them.
She then decided that she was wrong about the divorce and he agreed and
said she was stupid. Then she asked him if they could just have sex and
make up for her wrong. Both he and I were taken back by that because she
wanted to do that and because I was still there. But he agreed, and I
shortly woke up from the dream.
