Watery Chasm [12/09/2003]
Well, I had the most unsettling dream last night/this morning. I was at home for some reason, and I guess I was dating someone and they
were too busy with other things to go do something with me. I guess she had some other plans she decided to partake in, but she would be
back sometime later. She was wearing a gray dress and put on her gray overcoat and left. So I decided I would go ride my bike instead.
I went up the road and came back, but suddenly a number of cars started coming. Two were ahead of me and two behind. The two in front
were cars and the two in back were SUVs (Super Ugly Vehicles as my grandfather would call them). So I decided to go as fast as I could to
get to my house since I was already there anyway. But I then decided to pull off at the access just before our driveway instead and go
around the trees in back and down through the backyard. I decided to do this because the SUVs behind me were getting too close.
I pulled off and was going to run diagonally across the access until I saw there was a very deep chasm on the far side of the access. So
I stopped the bike very, very quickly and almost went over and into the chasm, but I remained at the edge. I looked and could see a pool of
water below, and the chasm ran all the way down our neighbor's from front to back. There was construction equipment lying around and it
seemed everyone who was working there had gone home. I walked by the chasm and saw there was only a foot or solid ground between the
surface and the opening of this cavern below. It seemed as if the whole entire hill was hollow and there was this giant pond or something
underneath. I could see pipes down below sticking up out of the water and that was about all I could see besides water. I followed the
edge of the chasm down to the end, which was in the backyard of our neighbor's house (It ran kind of down the middle between our tree-line
and their house. I reached the end where this huge well was in place. I figured they were putting in a communal water system or something
and worried how much longer our hill would still be here with such a thin amount of ground keeping it as a hill and not any sort of mud
hole.
At this point I think I had left my bike somewhere beside the chasm and went home and told my parents about it. I soon woke up and felt
a little fearful that the ground would collapse.
