Ghost Hound and a House on a Cavern [2/28/2008]

In the first dream this morning I found myself in a wooded area with two friends. We were walking somewhere and the girl in our group turned to me and asked where my father was. I told her that he was out cutting wood. Then she immediately asked me if he was ever going to cut down the sprouting birch trees because they needed attending.

Ahead of us, a figure on a large rather futuristic Star Wars-looking four-wheeler pulled out in front of us and around a bend and off ahead of us and down a trail in the forest. We recognized it to be my father, and he hauled a large amount of the aformentioned birch wood on the back.

Since this quickly answered my friend's question, we continued walking and around a corner to the left. Eventually we reached a run-down school or office complex of sorts in the middle of the woods. It was a single-level building and the glass doors were still intact. We followed a walkways around the edge of the building to the glass doors in the front and stopped there.

It seemed we were on an adventure to explore this forsaken building and we sorted our thoughts for a moment before entering. We stepped inside the doors and looked at a long set of decending stairs that led down to another set of doors. We were unsure of the stability of the floors as we walked further in.

Soon I stepped on a rather orange spot on the stair and it gave way and I slid down the stairs as I exclaimed that the stair was rotting. We were now all at the bottom of these long wide steps and we faced our next challenge, going through the next set of glass doors. Our first goal was to make it quietly to the second set of doors, which was an extreme disaster. We feared now that we couldn't enter the next doors without making it back out.

Something like leaves slowly creeped down the stairs where the orange rot had been exposed, and a strange wind blew brown leaves like a wall against the other side of the second set of doors. It seemed we had stirred whatever it was we were trying to avoid, so we cancelled our plans to enter further like we were sitting on a fence deciding which side to get off. So we ran back up the edge of the wide stairs and reached the top.

The girl wanted to go through another glass door on the right, which led down a worn out wood-floor hallway with walls worn like a dark color of paint that's never been maintained. She wanted to get something down the hallway, but we wanted to get out. She grabbed the handle of the door and was ready to open it and rush in, when we all saw some kind of ghost hound appear at the far end of the hallway. I told her we can't do it now, not after waking that up. She opened the door slightly and the hound started charging and barking toward us. I grabbed her or our other friend did, and the door shut closed and we rushed out the front door and away from the building as fast as we could.

After this dream I had yet another. I was in a yard in a desert area which I guess was my aunt's house. My brother had just gotten two small hogs and two gerbels as pets. Something happened and the next thing I knew these hogs were almost bigger than we were and they were about to run over the gerbels. We grabbed up the gerbels and put them on a small sandy ledge surrounded on the other side by trees so we thought they would be safe there.

After I put one up there, it soon jumped off and fell five feet to the ground and wandered around until I picked it back up and put it on the ledge again. This time it stayed there.

I looked around and saw some animal digging in the ground to the right side. So I went to see that it was some kind of badger that was digging with all its might toward a giant opening in the ground that eminated some light from elsewhere. I didn't want it to do it anymore so I pushed some sand into the spot where it was. The animal fell through the hole and what seemed like a couple thousand feet, never to be seen again.

Looking at the hole closer I could see it opened up to a giant cavern that had a ceiling like a white stone shelf where the house and where we stood upon. It was massive inside. So massive indeed, that I didn't believe our current technology would be enough to get a man to reach the bottom safely. I couldn't really see the bottom clearly, so there was no saying if it was rock or lava down there. All I knew was I didn't want to be near that hole anymore. I could see other openings further ahead with a similar light shining.

I pushed the sand back in, and my dad came over with a car battery and a gas tank. He poured out gas and lit it with two leads on the battery as though he was planning to get rid of that animal in this way. At least it probably died instantly from the fall. My aunt also came out and we all commented about the cavern below. Se said her insurance still insured the house despite knowing about this hole that the house basically sat on top. We went inside and my grandfather came into a room where we were and was ranting about the cavern and the animal we just dealt with.
